At-Home HPV 8-Strain Test (Women Only)

First-Void Urine & Swab Collection Kit

High-risk HPV screening from home for women.

Though HPV is sexually transmitted, current methods of detecting HPV in male urine are not consistently effective.  This is because women have 200x the detectable cells which can be infected with HPV in their urine, making HPV much easier to detect in women.

What This Test Screens For

  • HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58, 67

How It Works

  1. Order your kit online – discreet plain-packaging delivery
  2. Collect a first-void urine sample at home
  3. Mail your sample using the prepaid return envelope
  4. Receive confidential results online in 1–3 days after lab receipt
Why Choose This Test

EASY SAMPLE COLLECTION: The collection kit and instructions make sample collection a simple, convenient process that can be done in the privacy and comfort of your home.

MULTIPLE INFECTION SCREENING: This test kit screens for HPV16, HPV18, HPV31, HPV33, HPV45, HPV52, HPV58, and HPV67 with a single sample for comprehensive results.  Please note HPV33, HPV52, HPV58, and HPV67 are reported as a single result.

PRIVATE TESTING: Discreet at-home sample collection in plain packaging allows for the highest quality lab testing without visiting a clinic. Our lab is HIPAA compliant, and a certified physician or nurse practitioner signs off on all screening test requests.

ACCURATE RESULTS: NAAT testing is the gold standard for detecting HPV16, HPV18, HPV31, HPV33, HPV45, HPV52, HPV58, and HPV67 in female urine samples. For urine samples, these tests are the most accurate currently available.

HPV Test vs Pap Smear

While not a substitute for pap smears, growing evidence shows that HPV testing of high-risk strains of human papillomavirus like 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58 and 67 detect potential precancerous cells earlier than pap smears, especially in the case of cervical cancer, where HPV 16 and 18 are estimated to be responsible for approximately 70% of cervical cancers alone.  For women aged 30-65, the US Preventative Services Task Force recommends either a pap smear every 3 years, high-risk HPV testing every 5 years, or high-risk HPV testing in combination with a pap smear (co-testing) every 5 years.  High-risk HPV testing is also recommended after an abnormal result from a pap smear.

Test Accuracy & Technology

Though HPV is sexually transmitted, current methods of detecting HPV in male urine are not consistently effective.  This is because women have 200x the detectable cells which can be infected with HPV in their urine, making HPV much easier to detect in women.  As a result, we are not yet willing, nor are we able to legally run HPV testing in men using this kit. However, testing HPV in self collected FVU in women has been shown to be as effective as self-collected swab kits in at least one recent major study in the journal of Cancer Research and Treatment.

FAQ's

How accurate are at-home STI tests?

At-home STI tests that use laboratory-based NAAT or PCR testing are highly accurate and comparable to clinic testing when samples are collected correctly. Our lab prides ourselves on advanced technology and accurate testing procedures. Awarded one of the most accurate labs in 2024 we continue to strive for the most accurate results for our customers.

What is NAAT testing?

NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing) detects the genetic material of an infection and is considered the gold standard for detecting bacterial STIs such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

What is first-void urine and why is it used?

First-void urine is the initial part of the urine stream and contains the highest concentration of infectious organisms, making it more accurate than standard urine samples.

How long after exposure should I test?

Most bacterial STIs are best detected 5–7 days after exposure. Testing too early may result in false-negative results. For more detailed answers see When to Test Using Our Kits.

How long does it take to get results?

Currently, we average a little less than 58 hours until you get your results back.  This includes weekends, and delays if your sample returns as positive or if the results do not adhere to our strict quality control guidelines.  In those cases, we rerun the test from scratch to ensure accuracy.
