Why Choose This Test

EASY SAMPLE COLLECTION: The collection kit and instructions make sample collection a simple, convenient process that can be done in the privacy and comfort of your home.

MULTIPLE INFECTION SCREENING: This test kit screens for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomoniasis, herpes simplex virus 1, and herpes simplex virus 2 with comprehensive results.

PRIVATE TESTING: Discreet at-home sample collection in plain packaging enables the highest quality lab testing without the need to visit a clinic. Our lab and testing methods are HIPAA compliant, and a certified physician or nurse practitioner signs off on all screening test requests.

ACCURATE RESULTS: NAAT testing is the gold standard for detecting Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomoniasis, herpes simplex virus 1, and herpes simplex virus 2. These tests are currently the most accurate for urine and swab testing.  First void urine is the optimal method for testing urine for pathogens.  If you have recently recovered from an outbreak (characterized by crusted or scabbed-over sores), false negatives are more likely with this and any other NAAT testing method. False negatives are possible with all methods of detecting HSV-1 and HSV-2. As this is an NAAT, your specimen must contain HSV-1 or HSV-2 DNA to produce a positive result. All positive results are extracted and run twice separately to ensure accuracy. Please see the HSV test listing here for a complete explanation of the limitations and benefits of our HSV test kit: Herpes Simplex Virus Collection Kit.

What’s Included

  • Instructions for registration and collection
  • A urine collection funnel and container
  •  A swab test kit is included for HSV-1 and HSV-2 if lesions are present.  (Both are optimal for the most accurate possible HSV detection, as FVU can detect HSV when it presents as urethritis, and swabs provide a more precise diagnosis for lesions, allowing the test kit to be used to determine infection anywhere lesions exist externally on the body or in the mouth. )
  • Reminder card for accessing results
  • Prepaid return shipping envelope

Important: Not available in MD, NJ, NY, PA, or RI. Results are for informational purposes only.

FAQ's

How accurate are at-home STI tests?

At-home STI tests that use laboratory-based NAAT or PCR testing are highly accurate and comparable to clinic testing when samples are collected correctly. Our lab prides ourselves on advanced technology and accurate testing procedures. Awarded one of the most accurate labs in 2024 we continue to strive for the most accurate results for our customers.

What is NAAT testing?

NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing) detects the genetic material of an infection and is considered the gold standard for detecting bacterial STIs such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

What is first-void urine and why is it used?

First-void urine is the initial part of the urine stream and contains the highest concentration of infectious organisms, making it more accurate than standard urine samples.

How long after exposure should I test?

Most bacterial STIs are best detected 5–7 days after exposure. Testing too early may result in false-negative results. For more detailed answers see When to Test Using Our Kits.

How long does it take to get results?

Currently, we average a little less than 58 hours until you get your results back.  This includes weekends, and delays if your sample returns as positive or if the results do not adhere to our strict quality control guidelines.  In those cases, we rerun the test from scratch to ensure accuracy.
